Backstory
Hi, this is Fai - the founder, the model, the creative director, I am everything of LAOOR. Thank you for being here and you have no idea how appreciative I am that you are HERE and reading about our story--Let's jump right in.
I was born and raised in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Holistic living has always been an integral part of my life. Growing up, I was surrounded by nature and a culture deeply rooted in traditional remedies from medicine to skincare routine. Moving to the United States in 2016 brought many changes, and one of the most challenging was adapting to how the environment affected my skin. The cold, dry weather and chlorine in the water caused visible damage to my complexion, something I had never experienced in Thailand’s humid climate.
Struggling to find skincare products that addressed these concerns while remaining true to my natural and organic values, I realized I needed to create my own solution. And from there, LAOOR was born.
Why LAOOR?
LAOOR holds deep personal and cultural significance. It is named after my great-grandmother, an immigrant from Laos. Her full name, Nuan Laoor, means "clear, bright, and beautiful skin." In our culture, this term was used to describe someone with flawless skin, embodying natural beauty and vitality. Naming the brand LAOOR is not just a nod to my great-grandmother but also a way to honor my heritage and share the legacy of traditional Thai beauty with the world.
